WHEN YOU SHOP…
• READ CLOTHING LABELS
Fabric blends can be a menace to recycling efforts. Even 100 per cent polyester is easier to recycle.
• BUY ORGANIC COTTON
Conventionally produced cotton is responsible for 24 per cent of the global sales of insecticide.
• LOOK FOR NATURAL FIBRES,
like ethically farmed alpaca and mohair and organic linen.
• IN TERMS OF SYNTHETIC FIBRES,
try bamboo/viscose, Tencel, recycled polyester (rPet means it came from plastic bottles) and recycled nylon.
• RECYCLE EVERYTHING
Socks, towels and sheets can go to Value Village to be shredded for use by other industries. And all H&M locations allow you to drop off clothing of any brand in any condition for recycling.
• RENT
Dot-com darling Rent the Runway is experimenting with sameday delivery in New York.
