Wintour is Canada’s most fashion-obsessed comedian. Clad in faux fur and sequins, she hosts Stand Back, where she dishes on dating as a trans woman, getting blocked from Madonna’s Instagram and her controversial pro-dick pix stance (“I want to know what I am getting into”).
THE CURATOR
Coko Galore is one-half of the acclaimed improv duo Coko & Daphney and the apprentice artistic director of the Bad Dog Theatre Company. There, she programs shows like The Party Show, Kiss N’ Tell and Black and Funny Comedy, all of which highlight BIPOC and LGBTQ+ performers. THE STRAIGHT MAN During her early days as a comic, Brittany Lyseng was an elevator repairperson. She muses about everything from having to field bizarre questions about feminism (“If you were in a burning building, would you want a female firefighter to save you?”) to the dangers of joining the work group chat to your father finding horrifying screenshots.
THE NEWCOMER
Maryan Kalah came to Canada from Somalia at age 16, settling in Winnipeg and eventually raising her five children there. After she spent decades cracking up her friends with her salty, foul-mouthed sense of humour, they bugged her to try standup—and so she did, heading to open mics for the very first time at age 42.
