Ontario Climbers Tick Rocket Man

-

Rocket Man M7+ WI6 350 m was climbed at least twice in the fall. Americans Kurt Ross and Colin Simon climbed it first, with Ross sending every pitch on lead. Ontario climbers Stas Beskin and Daniel Martian then made an ascent. Rocket Man forms on Mount Patterson north of Lake Louise and was first climbed in 1999 by David Thomson, Kafira Allen, Eric Dumerac and Raphael Slawinski. It did not have a second recorded ascent until 2011 when Raphael Slawinski and Jon Walsh climbed it. It is considered one of the most difficult routes of its kind in North America. Beskin and Martian were the first all-Ontario team to climb it. Se an interview with Martian on p.4.
