With sub-zero temperatures around Squamish this fall, classic ice routes formed for the first time in years. Marc-Andre and Tim Nielson climbed new routes i n the Superheroes Cirque near Hope. Antifreeze M6- 30 m climbs a thin smear right of the established Mr. Freeze and then heads up an overlap to reach the ice on Mr. Freeze. Their new route Venom WI6+ 30 m climbs a steep yellow pillar 20 metres right of Mr. Freeze. Just left of Venom is Dr. Octopus, a new WI7 protected with rock gear. Jamie Finlayson and Tim Emmett climbed Brandywine Falls WI6 M10 up the namesake waterfall north of Squamish. The f irst pitch is WI6, the second is M9 and the third climbs their 2012 route called 100% Proof M10. Finlayson said after, “His was my fourth day of ice/mixed climbing. Tim led all the pitches and totally crushed it!”
