Two Big New Ice Routes on Icefields Parkway

Maarten van Haeren and Sebastian Taborszky climbed two big new routes near Caldron Lake, southwest of Peyto Lake, on the Icefields Parkway. “Definitely reminiscent of some areas in Norway, rolling hills with shrubby alpine vegetation,” said van Haeren. Over two trips, they climbed Pigs in the Caldron WI5 170 m and Socks and Witch’s Brew M5+ WI4 330 m. “The rock protected surprisingly well and we found it a worthwhile adventure,” said van Haeren.
