‘Kooperman’ on big screen
P.E.I. movie gets two screenings at Cineplex in Charlottetown Nov. 12
Following a sold-out P.E.I. premiere at the Charlottetown Film Festival and screenings at Hal-Con, Atlantic Canada’s largest comic book fan convention, P.E.I. -made feature-length comedy “Kooperman” has two special screenings at Cineplex Cinemas Charlottetown on Thursday, Nov. 12.
“Seeing the film on the big screen and hearing it in 5.1 surround sound gives the full effect of what this Island cast and crew achieved,” says producer and co-writer Jason Rogerson.
“P.E.I. looks great in the movies.”
Selected for the 2014 Telefilm Micro-Budget Production Fund, “Kooperman” tells the story of a struggling comic book storeowner, riddled with fears, who must snap out of his fantasy world and become his own hero in order to save his store, his friendship, and himself. “I can’t imagine how huge my head is going to look on the big screen,” says Matt Harper, who plays Troy Frizzell, Kooperman’s nemesis. “It’s pretty big already!”
Tickets for the Charlottetown screening are not available at Cineplex and are only available by donation online at Kickstarter at http://kickstarter.com /projects/jasonandharmony/kooperman-on-the-big-screen. The Kickstarter initiative closes on Nov. 11. Swag such as “Kooperman “Tshirts and props from the movie are available there as well for people who want to support the effort to put this Island production on the big screen. The film also makes its New Brunswick premiere this month at Silver Wave Film Festival in Fredericton. “Kooperman” will screen as the Closing Gala Atlantic Feature on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. at Tilly Hall on the University of New Brunswick campus. Angela Lamoureaux at The Wig Lady P.E.I. gave “Kooperman” star Dylan Miller back his locks. “Kooperman” was produced by Charlottetown based production company, Periscope Pictures, and employed 79 Islanders.
