Tribute to women

Twins host concert series at Crapaud Community Hall

On Monday, Crapaud Community Hall presents “A Tribute to Lady Singers of our Century” featuring the music of Anne Murray, Rita MacNeil, Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline.

On Monday, Crapaud Community Hall presents “A Tribute to Lady Singers of our Century” featuring the music of Anne Murray, Rita MacNeil, Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline.

Hosting this concert series are Judy McGregor and Joan Reeves, twin sisters known as Ding and Dong, and joining them will be Jolee Patkai, Keila Glydon and Coleen MacPhee.

Patkai, a singer/songwriter, has released two CDs “Going Home” in 2012 and “Shore Rhapsody” in 2006. She currently preforms with a group called Treble with Girls as well as at many fundraiser­s. Her set will pay tribute to Loretta Lynn. Glydon has performed with many different groups over the years singing backup harmony as well as lead with the popular gospel group, Glory Land Express, Soul Searchers and now Dino and the Harmonies. She has written many songs, some of which are on her latest CD “Here I Am Lord.” She will be paying tribute to Patsy Cline. MacPhee, originally from Georgetown, now resides in Stratford, and has been singing and playing guitar since the age of 12. Over the years she has entered and won numerous contests and has two recordings to her credit. Hers will be a tribute to Rita MacNeil. McGregor and Reeves have been singing together for many years producing a beautiful harmony and adding lots of humour as well. Judy and Joan will pay tribute to Anne Murray, a former schoolteac­her of theirs.

This Aug. 29 concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and is a fundraisin­g concert for the Crapaud Community Hall, located just off the Trans-Canada Highway.

It is wheelchair accessible and has plenty of parking. Tickets are $10 at the door which opens at 6:30 p.m.
