Free films on Community Day

Cineplex theatres host event on Oct. 22 to support WE

The funeral for Edward J. Gaudet was held Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, from the West Prince Funeral Home to Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road, where funeral mass was celebrated by Rev. Albin Arsenault who also delivered the homily and had the prayers of final commendati­on and farewell. The first reading was read by niece Anne Arsenault. The second reading and prayers of the faithful were read by niece Cathy Guitare. The church choir sang under the direction of Velda Gallant, accompanie­d by organist Anita Doucette. The procession­al hymn was “By Name I Have Called You”. The Psalm was “To You O Lord I Lift My Soul”. The offertory was music “J’irai la voir un jour.” The communion hymn was “The Lord Is My Shepherd.” The farewell song was “Songs of the Angels” and the recessiona­l hymn was “How Great Thou Art.” The altar servers were Austin Bernard, Roy McKenna and Leroy Doucette. Eucharisti­c ministers were Claudia Gaudet, Cecelia McRae and Stella Allain. The honorary pallbearer­s were all those who attended the funeral. The active pallbearer­s were all nephews Ernest Costain, David Guitare, Robert Guitare, Jerry Gallant, Bernie Ellsworth and Michael Gaudet. The flower bearers were Megan Costain, Michelle Ramsay and Jeannie MacDougall. Interment was in the church cemetery. On Monday evening Tignish Legion members held a remembranc­e service with Sergeant-at-arms Stephen Gallant, flag bearers Roy Pederson and James Doucette, and Russell Gallant doing the readings.

This Saturday, movie-lovers across P.E.I. can enjoy a morning of free movies at their local Cineplex theatre. Called Community Day, the event is held in support of WE, a youth movement that brings young people together to give them the tools to change the world. Cineplex Community Day treats guests to a selection of family-friendly movies with all proceeds from donations and select concession sales supporting WE. “As one of Canada’s largest employers of young people, we are inspired by youth who take a starring role in making a difference in the world around them,” The UPEI music department recital series 2016-2017 will present afternoon recitals featuring UPEI music majors in performanc­e at the Dr. Steel said Ellis Jacob, president and chief executive officer of Cineplex Entertainm­ent.

This year’s film lineup includes recently released films such as “The Good Dinosaur”, “Inside Out”, “Zootopia”, “The Finest Hours” and “The Jungle Book”. Movie-lovers in attendance can enjoy a morning of free movies and select concession­s Recital Hall on Fridays at 12:40 p.m., beginning Oct. 21 and continuing until Dec. 2. Admission is free. Another recital featuring Jacques Arsenault, tenor, and Maria Campbell, mezzo, in collaborat­ion for $2 each. Theatres will also be selling ME to WE Cineplex “change bracelets” for $2 each, which feature a motivation­al statement to inspire youth to create positive change. All proceeds from bracelet sales will also benefit WE.

On Oct. 22, Cineplex theatres in Summerside and Charlottet­own will open their doors to guests at 8:30 a.m., but seating is limited and available on a firstcome, first-served basis. Movies begin at 10 a.m. in Summerside and 9 a.m. in Charlottet­own.
