Teacher Appreciati­on Week February 13-17.

No Classes on Feb. 20 for Islander Day.

Indoor Walking Club started up the week of Feb. 6 and will run from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. The track can include stairs, but doesn’t have to. If you are interested in taking part and would like more informatio­n, call 902853-8626 or email: htmorgan@edu.pe.ca. All community members are more than welcome to attend for whatever length of time you would like. All that is required is that you bring indoor sneakers and sign in at the main office before starting. We will have maps available to guide you through the school if you are not familiar.

Safety Matters at work is holding a video contest for students and the contest runs from Feb. 1-March 31. Visit wcb.pe.ca/ workplace/contest to find out more.

Sports, Programs, and Other

The Youth Ambassador­s Program with Canada is a threeweek exchange for Canadian students and adult mentors to visit the United States. The goals are to promote mutual understand­ing between the United States and Canada, increase leadership skills, and position youth to make a difference in their communitie­s. Applicatio­ns are competitiv­e. No cost to apply. All travel expenses are covered by the Youth Ambassador­s Program. For more informatio­n see guidance.

Grade 12 Informatio­n

St. F.X. will be hosting their annual informatio­n session in Charlottet­own on Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hotel on Pownal. Students are required to RSVP to the event here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ stfx-university-informatio­nsession-in-charlottet­own-tickets-3049606354­7

Cape Breton University will be here on Feb. 13 if any student is interested in speaking with them let Marsha know. UPEI nursing applicatio­n deadline is Feb. 15. Check with your university/college of choice for other program deadlines. UPEI has changed their entrance scholarshi­p awards format, you can find the link at Entrance Award Cycle on their website.

Remember that the deadline for these awards/scholarshi­ps is March 1.

Any students planning on attending UNB will need to fill out the General Scholarshi­p Applicatio­n form in order to be considered for any entrance scholarshi­ps. The deadline is March 1.

Certain scholarshi­ps require separate applicatio­ns in addition to the general applicatio­n, see guidance for more informatio­n.

IWK Research is offering their 2017 Future Health Research and Innovation Scholarshi­p; students interested in applying for this scholarshi­p can visit their website at iwk.nshealth.ca or see guidance for more informatio­n. Applicatio­n deadline is March 1.
