Anti-Racism Student Challenge call for entries

March 21 is the Internatio­nal Day for the Eliminatio­n of Racial Discrimina­tion. To mark the occasion, Multicultu­ral Education Program of the P.E.I. Associatio­n for Newcomers to Canada is holding its 5th annual Anti-Racism Challenge, a creative competitio­n for Island students.

The purpose of the challenge is to engage youth in grades 7 to 12 in a creative process to express their ideas on the topic of anti-racism.

Youth are encouraged to explore the meaning of antiracism (not anti-bullying or anti-violence) prior to developing their submission.

Entries are accepted in the

following categories: Written text Poster Video Prizes

First prize: $200 for the winner, plus $200 for his or her school or youth group/organizati­on Second Prize : $100 Third Prize : $50

Prizes will be awarded in each of the three categories. Full details, entry forms, and submission guidelines can be found at peianc.com

Entries must be submitted by Feb. 28 at 4:30 pm.
