At Edd McNeill Memorial tournament in Slemon Park
The Summerside Capitals split a pair of games at the 19th annual Edd McNeill Memorial hockey tournament on Friday. The Capitals dropped a 3-1 decision to the Riverview Blues, and then edged the Kings County Kings 1-0 to improve to 2-1 (won-lost) in the 10-team peewee AAA tournament at The Plex.
The Caps conclude roundrobin play against the Newbridge O5’s on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
Also on Saturday, a skills competition will take place from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. The playoffs begin Sunday at 9 a.m., with the championship game slated for 3:15 p.m.
Blues 3, Capitals 1
Marco Martin, Marshall Snider and Jonah Jelley scored three unanswered goals for the Blues in the final two periods.
Jesse Johnston, assisted by Sid McNeill and Cody McCormack, gave Summerside a 1-0 lead after the first period. Riverview
led 2-1 after the second. Winning goaltender was Brody Oxford. Riley Molyneaux was in goal for Summerside.
Caps 1, Kings 0
Kiefer Thompson earned
the shutout for the Caps, who received a first-period goal by Liam Sullivan. Jesse Johnston and Jesse Blanchard set up the goal.
Connor McInnis tended goal for Kings County.
