Three Oaks Senior High hosts VICTOR Prince County Senior Tournament
Hamlins win VICTOR Prince County Senior Badminton Tournament’s women’s double division at Three Oaks Senior High School.
Neil Moore won multiple events at the recent VICTOR Prince County Senior Badminton Tournament at Three Oaks Senior High School. Moore won the men’s singles and partnered with James Richardson to claim the doubles event.
In men’s singles, Moore defeated Richard Younker, (21-17, 21-17) to make it to the semifinals while Aaron Leblanc defeated Brandon Gaudet, (21-17, 21-9). Moore defeated Leblanc (21-15, 21- 9) to advance to the final.
In the other half of the draw, Luke MacKinnon defeated Matthew O’Halloran (18-21, 21-18, 21-16) to advance to the semis while Daniel Breau defeated James Richardson (1021, 21-17, 21-19). Breau beat MacKinnon (17-21, 21-15, 2111) to advance.
In the finals, Moore defeated Breau (21-8, 21-13). Younker won the consolation title while organizers said teenagers Brandon Bernard, Cameron MacDonald and Logan Woods gave solid efforts.
Women’s singles
Berdien Bakker defeated Hannah Arsenault (21-8, 21-8) in the semifinal and Karla McCallum in the final (21-16, 2112) to capture the women’s title. McCallum beat Jacqueline Hughes (11, 17-21, 15) in her semi. Mackenzie Thomas won the consolation title.
Men’s doubles
Moore/Richardson defeated Ravi Naidu/Mike Reid (21-12, 21-16) to advance to the men’s doubles semifinals. Breau/ Larry Liang defeated Brandon Bernard/Brandon Gaudet (218, 21-13) to make it to semis. Moore/ Richardson advanced to the final with a 21-10, 22-20 victory over Bernard/Gaudet. In the other half, Younker/ Nick Gallant advanced to the semis by beating Leblanc/ O’Halloran (21-11, 21-18). MacKinnon/John Murray defeated MacDonald/Woods (214, 21-9) in the quarter-final and then Younker/Gallant (21-19, 21-15) in the semifinal. Moore/Richardson beat MacKinnon/Murray (21-17, 21-12) in the championship game. In the consolation final, Leblanc/O’Halloran defeated Naidu/ Reid (13-21, 23-21, 16).
Women’s doubles
The women’s doubles was a three-way round-robin with Pauline Hamlin/Keirstyn Hamlin winning their matches versus Arsenault/Thomas, (21-6, 21-6), and Bakker/McCallum (21-19, 21-19). Bakker/McCallum defeated Arsenault/ Thomas (21-15, 21-16).
Mixed doubles
Liang/ McCallum proved a winning combination in mixed doubles, defeating MacKinnon/ Bakker (21-14, 21-11) in the championship final.
They drop their first game of the semifinal to top-seeded Moore/ K. Hamlin before coming back to win the match (1421, 21-10, 21-18). MacKinnon/Bakker had defeated Bernard/Arsenault (217, 21-16) and Naidu/P. Hamlin (21-15, 21-19). Moore/K. Hamlin won the consolation title.
