Grade 3 students voice concerns on drinking and driving, smoking, texting while driving, and littering

Editor’s note: The following Letters to the Editor were submitted by Grade 3 students from Sharon Anderson’s class at Somerset School in Kinkora. They appear as they were submitted with minimal editing.

Hello News Editor,

We don’t want people to text and drive. You might say you can text and drive if it is an emergency but you can’t. You might think you won’t get killed, but you can get killed. You probably will say you can text and drive if you want to, but you can get a fine up to $ 1,200. We don’t want people to text and drive because you can get killed. Sincerely,

Keira, William, and Jana. Dear Company, We would like people to stop smoking because it can make your lungs unhealthy. You might say we realize it is bad for people that smoke but we do not want to quit making cigarettes. You might believe that “you put pictures of what can happen to people that smoke on cigarette boxes so people stop smoking.” You might say people came here wanting to buy cigarettes when they choose not to, that is a good thing. If you sell more cigarettes you are going to kill more people. People still smoke even though there are pictures on the cigarette boxes. You are killing people every day. Our best reason is to stop selling tobacco and cigarettes. Sincerely,

Karson, Walker, Abby, and Kailee.

Dear Editor and P. E. I. Canada,

We would like it very much if

people don’t litter. You might say “what if we throw out apple cores once in awhile?” but’s not ok because you’re still littering. You might think some people don’t care about the environment. It’s bad for the environment. No one wants to live in a dirty world. You might believe it doesn’t harm anything. Animals can die from littering. It’s bad for the inviernmint and nobody want’s to live in a dirty world so don’t litter.

Sincerely,

Avrie, Addison, Trey, and Michael.
