Sports, Programs, and Other
Any students interested in Encounters Canada, see guidance. Just a reminder to Grade 12 students that there are many scholarships and bursaries available if you are moving on to college or university. See guidance for more information. A reminder to anyone interested in spring sports, that many tryouts are starting. Both boys’ and girls’ rugby tryouts have started. As well, badminton practice has started; listen or check student announcements for times.
Grade 12 Information
The Workers Compensation Board’s Safety Matters Award is awarded to a Prince Edward Island student who is graduating high school and has demonstrated an understanding of occupational health and safety principles, and has taken the initiative to apply them in school or in a workplace. The $500 award is to be used to further your education. Deadline is May 1, and application can be found at www.ecb.pe.ca/Workplace/YoungWorker. For more information see guidance.
Students planning to pursue a career related to a skilled trade, there are bursary applications in guidance for the P.E.I. Industrial Technology Teachers Association bursary. Deadline is May 1. Community Foundation of P.E.I. scholarship funds has information on their application process. To apply visit www. cfpei.ca. Application review date is May 1. UPEI will be here May 1 for registration. Students sign up in guidance.
Hockey P.E.I. Scholastic Award and the Jim Sterling Scholarship information and applications are now available on their website http://hockeypei.com/page.php?page_id=40723.
