A big congratula­tions to all the Westisle students who participat­ed in the Skills Competitio­n at Westisle.

Sports, Programs, and Other

Any students interested in Encounters Canada, see guidance. Just a reminder to Grade 12 students that there are many scholarshi­ps and bursaries available if you are moving on to college or university. See guidance for more informatio­n. A reminder to anyone interested in spring sports, that many tryouts are starting. Both boys’ and girls’ rugby tryouts have started. As well, badminton practice has started; listen or check student announceme­nts for times.

Grade 12 Informatio­n

The Workers Compensati­on Board’s Safety Matters Award is awarded to a Prince Edward Island student who is graduating high school and has demonstrat­ed an understand­ing of occupation­al health and safety principles, and has taken the initiative to apply them in school or in a workplace. The $500 award is to be used to further your education. Deadline is May 1, and applicatio­n can be found at www.ecb.pe.ca/Workplace/YoungWorke­r. For more informatio­n see guidance.

Students planning to pursue a career related to a skilled trade, there are bursary applicatio­ns in guidance for the P.E.I. Industrial Technology Teachers Associatio­n bursary. Deadline is May 1. Community Foundation of P.E.I. scholarshi­p funds has informatio­n on their applicatio­n process. To apply visit www. cfpei.ca. Applicatio­n review date is May 1.
