DOUCETTE William Vincent “Billy Bob”

The funeral for Billy Doucette, of North Rustico, was held on Monday, April 17, 2017, at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico. The presider for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Arulraj Santiago, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The pall was placed on the casket by his children, Debbie Yeo, Linda Doucette, Terrence Doucette and Marsha Doucette. The first reading, from Ecclesiast­es, was addressed by friend, Melanie McManaman. The second reading, from Romans, was addressed by daughter, Marsha Doucette, who also led the prayers of the faithful. The altar servers were Curtis Gallant, Peter Gallant, Norman Gallant and Joan Doiron. Norman Peters assisted Father Santiago as a Eucharisti­c minister. The music was provided by the church choir with Sister Phyllis Gallant, CND, as organist; and Noreen Down as song leader. The hymns were “Here I Am, Lord”, “In the Lord’s Own House” and “Celtic Alleluia”, with Noreen Down as cantor, “Amazing Grace”, “Gift of Finest Wheat”, “Songs of the Angels” and “How Great Thou Art”. Andy Turner passed out the bulletins. Honorary pallbearer­s were everyone present. Pallbearer­s were sons-in-law, Stephen Yeo, Paul Blackett and David Gallant; godsons, Jason Doucette and Jason Gallant; and nephew, Jamie Doucette. Flower bearers were grandchild­ren, Kelly Yeo, Lori Stordy, Jonathan Toombs and Matthew Doucette; and grandson-in-law, Nick Stordy. Among those in attendance were representa­tives from the Royal Canadian Legion, who also formed an honour guard at the cemetery. Interment took place in the Church Cemetery where Father Santiago conducted the committal service. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
