QEH Winter Concert Series features Ward MacDonald at second last show

-

After a winter of great music and lots of fun raising money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation, the QEH concert series hosted by Treble with Girls is getting ready to wind down with its’ second last show this Sunday, April 23, starting at 2 p.m. at the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Hall, the big blue church in Stratford.

Excited to be featuring another prominent Island fiddler, Treble with Girls welcome Ward MacDonald as their special guest. Growing up in the Scottish fiddling traditions of Prince Edward Island, MacDonald’s playing reflects four generations of family fiddling and is spiced with a unique blend of Cape Breton, Acadian, and Irish influences.

He has been featured at concerts, festivals, and square dances across Atlantic Canada and has traveled with his music as far as Cuba and the Bahamas.

He has also taught and performed at fiddle camps in New Brunswick, Vermont, Maine, Colorado and the Yukon. He will be accompanied by Zak Cormier on guitar.

All ages are welcome with admission by cash only at the door, preschoolers free. The afternoon also boasts a homemade lunch served at intermission, door prizes, a 50/50 draw and a West Jet Trip for Two raffle sale. Proceeds from the winter long concert series will be presented to the QEH Foundation at the 21st Annual QEH/Eastlink Telethon on May 28th.

The Assumption Parish Hall is located at 151 Stratford Road in Stratford.
