Senior nabs Kinkora Regional High School award
It has been a very busy year for Alexis Mulligan at Kinkora Regional High School (KRHS). The Emerald resident, who was recently named the Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub studentathlete of the month, will have competed in seven different sports when the 2016-17 P.E.I. School Athletic Association season concludes in June.
KINKORA – It has been a senior year to remember for Alexis Mulligan.
The 18-year-old daughter of Donald and Kellie Mulligan of Emerald will have represented Kinkora Regional High School (KRHS) in seven different senior sports when the 2016-17 P.E.I. School Athletic Association (PEISAA) season concludes in June.
As a result of her commitment and contributions, Alexis has been selected as the school’s Greco Pizza/ Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month.
In the fall, Alexis played striker on KISHORA – a combined team with Kensington Intermediate-Senior High School – that won the PEISAA senior A girls’ soccer championship, and also wore the Kinkora Blazers’ blue and Alexis Mulligan has been chosen as the Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub studentathlete of the month at Kinkora Regional High School. gold colours in cross-country.
Winter sports
During the winter, Alexis played wing in basketball, participated in dodgeball and played in the annual high school hockey tournament.
Alexis will also compete in the triple jump in track and field and play shortstop in softball this spring.
“Alexis is a leading scorer,” said Kinkora basketball coach Jeff McPhee. “Alexis averages 20 points and 10 steals a game. She is a leader during games and practice.”
Alexis is also very active in school life. She is the co-president of the grad executive, and is a member of the KRHS health committee.
Outside of school, Alexis was an assistant captain with the Mid-Isle Wildcats, who recently won the Prince Edward Island and Atlantic titles and went on to represent the region at the recent 2017 Esso Cup Canadian midget AAA female hockey championship in Morden, Man. Alexis also plays summer soccer.
Alexis will begin studying engineering at UPEI in September.
