Nazarenes hold Atlantic District Assembly
The Elmsdale Church of the Nazarene plays host this weekend to the Church of the Nazarene’s 74th Atlantic District Assembly.
About 100 delegates from the district’s 1,100 members were expected to attend the meetings and presentations which began May 18 and wrap up Saturday, May 20.
The host Elmsdale church will celebrate its 100th anniversary later this year.
Guest speakers are Dr. Clair MacMillan, district superintendent, and Dr. Gustavo Crocker, general superintendent.
Crocker was elected general superintendent in June 2013 in Indianapolis, IN. He taught in universities in Latin America, Europe and the United States, has been guest lecturer at several seminaries, colleges and universities, and his writings have been translated into more than 20 languages. MacMillan has been district superintendent of the Canada Atlantic District Church since December, 2003 and national director since April, 2005. A resident of Moncton, he is the primary author of the “Sourcebook for Ministerial Development in Canada” and a contributing author of “Love Does That: The Story of the Nazarenes in Canada.” Crocker was the keynote speaker for the Thursday evening Sunday School and Discipleship Ministries rally. Crocker and MacMillan presided over Friday morning assembly sessions and were the keynote speaker and service leader respectively for the evening service, while MacMillan hosted the noon luncheon. The theme for Saturday’s Nazarene Mission International Convention is “Helping a Hurting World.”
