P.E.I. Mutual Insurance Company and Special Olympics P.E.I. celebrate 25 years together
Special Olympics P.E.I. and P.E.I. Mutual Insurance Company are celebrating an important milestone in 2017.
This year marks 25 years that Special Olympics P.E.I. has received support from the company. Recognized as Special Olympics P.E.I.’s founding partner, P.E.I. Mutual has cumulatively donated more than $254,000 to the organization.
“In 1993 P.E.I. Mutual began contributing on an annual basis to assist P.E.I. Special Olympics to advance the great work they were doing to assist persons with an intellectual disability,” P.E.I. Mutual CEO Terry Shea said of the partnership’s history. “Over the past 25 years we have contributed more than $250,000 to the organization. I congratulate and thank the staff, volunteers and coaches on the tremendous work they do on a daily basis to grow their programs. Their commitment and dedication to the program has provided the athletes with the skills to attain great success at local, national and international competitions and the athletes have done just that. Congratulations to the athletes.”
Charity Sheehan, executive director of Special Olympics P.E.I., also in reflection of the partnership.
“Special Olympics P.E.I. has grown a great deal over the past 25 years, and we are grateful to have had the support of P.E.I. Mutual, encouraging our movement every step of the way,” said Sheenhan. “Thanks in great part to their support, we have been able to grow our sports programs, expand our competitive opportunities, and reach more Islanders.”
