Three contestants from P.E.I. received crowns at recent pageant in N.B.
Three contestants from Prince Edward Island received crowns at the Ms, Miss and Miss Teen Maritime International Pageant in Dieppe.
Faith Myers from Lennox Island was crowned Miss Teen Prince Edward Island International, Lindsay Ramsay from Kensington was nameed Miss Prince Edward Island International, and Catherine MacCannell from Charlottetown is the new Miss Teen Maritime International 2017.
The pageant was held at the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre from May 18 to 21. There were 33 contestants from across the Maritimes vying for the 2017 regional and Maritime titles. Kim Rideout, manager for the regional and Maritime titleholders, said the queens will reign for a year.
The Ms, Miss and Miss Teen Maritime International Pageant is already receiving applications for next year’s pageant, Rideout reported. Miss Teen contestants can range from 12 to 17 years of age. Contestants in the Miss category range from 18 to 26, and Ms contestants can be married or single, 19 years of age and older.
“It’s not your typical beauty pageant,” said Rideout, explaining contestants are judged on such elements as charitable and community involvement, biographies, confidence, public speaking, and interviews.
Maritime International titleholders are also eligible for scholarships.
