Award-winning Madison Violet to headline Waterways Paddling
The award-winning singing duo, Madison Violet, will be headlining the Waterways Paddling Festival concert in Saturday.

Violet, will be the headline act for the Waterways Paddling Festival concert on June 10 in Victoria-by-the-Sea. After an afternoon of stage performances from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Waterways Paddling Festival
Site, and a 7 p.m. opening act by the Hey Cuzzin’s Drum Group, Madison Violet will begin their show at 8 p.m.
Before Saturday’s gig, they are doing two shows on Wednesday and Thursday, June 7 and 8, at the Trailside Music Café in Mount Stewart. Born in Montreal and raised in Kincardine, Ont., MacEachern used to spend her summers in MacIsaac’s hometown of Creignish, N.S., but they never met on the East Coast. It was a chance meeting at a restaurant in Toronto, that set them on their musical journey together. They only later found out that not only did MacIsaac know MacEachern’s extended family, but their fathers sat next to one another in high school in Cape Breton.
Since their fateful meeting in 1999, the pair has been nominated for numerous ECMA awards and a Juno award, won a Canadian Folk Award for Vocal Group of the Year, the Maxell John Lennon Songwriting grand prize, and more.
They have released seven studio albums, as well as a live CD and DVD recorded in Germany, during one of their many European tours.
There are many stories behind their songs - from the Sam Smith inspired lead single, “We Are Famous,” to “These Ships” - an acoustic remake of their previously released track on electronic dance label, Ultra Records, which garnered over 1.1 million listens on Spotify.
