Évangéline-Central Credit Union honours Helping Hands Band

-

Ninety-eight member-owners attended the Évangéline-Central Credit Union’s fifth annual general meeting at the Royal Canadian Legion in O’Leary.

During the evening, the Helping Hands Band was named the 2016 Évangéline-Central Credit Union Volunteer of the Year for their numerous contributions to their community over the past decades.

In the mid-1990s, this group of musicians formed a band to assist individuals, organizations and charities in financial need. Well known in the West Prince area for their many good deeds, accomplishments and willingness to assist those in need, the band has performed for over 20 years for benefits, in many seniors’ residents, and at countless community events, all without compensation for their time

and talents. Since they started keeping track in 2000, they have raised about $1.8 million.

In the president’s report it was noted that in 2016, the Évangéline-Central Credit Union’s focus was on retaining and growing its youth (ages 19-25) portfolio.

The credit union also experienced advancements in the past year with its online and mobile payment technology. Debit cards are now Interac Flash enabled, allowing members to tap and pay.

The Evangeline credit union

also launched Interac Online Payments, which allows members to pay for their online purchases directly from their account through Member Direct Online banking.

No credit card is required anymore.
