Alan Mulholland pulls out of P.E.I. PC leadership race

And then there were two: Summerside businessman Alan Mulholland is no longer pursuing the leadership of P.E.I.’s Progressive Conservative party.

Mulholland said in a release Friday that he has spent the last number of months canvassing the Island but felt he was not well enough known among the membership to be successful for the leadership.

“I was heartened by the number of people I spoke to who agreed with many of the ideas that I was putting forward during my travels across the Island,” said Mulholland.

“I will continue to develop my profile on P.E.I. and prepare myself for the next opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of Islanders.” Mulholland thanked his supporters and wished the current two candidates left in the race — sitting PC MLAs Brad Trivers and James Aylward — the best of luck in their efforts to gain the leadership.
