O’Leary selling CN stationhouse building

Subdivision plan still in the works

- BY ERIC MCCARTHY

O’Leary town council has reached an agreement with an individual interested in purchasing the town-owned CN stationhouse building.

The price was not disclosed during the June council meeting as councillors are awaiting the closing date on the property purchase

There are still some details to be finalized before that transaction is complete, including having the town retain ownership of the cenotaph property out front and maintaining a right-of-way through the lot.

The town had a purchase on the offer but council decided to tender the property, ultimately deciding to go with the original offer. Development committee chairman, Blake Adams, updated council on other development projects.

He said conversations with perspective tenants of a proposed strip mall are still progressing.

Survey work with the view to turning the town-owned Pate property into a subdivision is continuing.

Adams reported the town purchased additional land at the back of the property, near the lagoon, some of which will assist with drainage from the subdivision.

He is also continuing conversations with a committee interested in developing a seniors housing facility on the town-owned property.
