Comedic talent

New dinner theatre production in Tignish opens June 29

-

There’s a “Weak Shove of Talent” in Tignish and that talent will be on display at this year’s dinner theatre production at the Tignish Legion.

Well sir, there’s a weak shove of talent in Tignish. For anyone unfamiliar with some of the local lingo, “a weak shove” means “a lot” or, “an incredible amount”.

“Weak Shove of Talent” is the title of this year’s dinner theatre production at the Tignish Legion.

The premise for the show has Tignish’s Committee of Recitals and Artistic Performances (CRAP) wanting to put together the best Canada 150 celebration the community will ever see.

Their mission: find the best possible opening performer/artist for their big CRAP-fest.

Auditions are in full swing and performers are eager to land the part. There might be a slight snag, though. Donna, the woman in charge of auditions, wants the part herself. With her assistant’s help, she’s determined to convince everyone the acts are not CRAP material.

With the list of people trying out for the opening act position, does Donna really need to worry, or will Tignish’s reputation

for having a ‘weak shove of talent’ be in the toilet? “Weak Shove of Talent” has a cast of six. Sarah Rennie-Shea, who wrote the script, takes on the role of Sandy, AKA, Barb Shartney. Kurk Bernard is Dougie Domi, Bruce Arsenault is Marco the Magnificent, Sean Doyle is Shamus O’Flannigan, Brendan Shea is Moncton Mike, and Danalee Lynch-Veinotte takes on the role of Donna Arsenault.

Audience members can help determine if the show’s title is accurate starting June 29. The dinner theatre will be performed at the Tignish Legion on Tuesday and Thursday nights starting June 29, its kickoff coinciding with the Tignish Irish Moss Festival.

Tickets are $38 per person, taxes included. There’s a special introductory price of $35 for the Irish Moss Festival show. Cast members help serve the meal, which starts off with chowder, then a roast beef entree with all the fixings and assorted desserts.

Dinner theatre tickets can be booked by calling (902)853-6698.
