MARTIN, LAURENE “RENA”

The funeral for Laurena “Rena” Martin, wife of the late Aubin Martin, formerly of St. Roch was held Monday June 19, 2017 from the West Prince Funeral Home, Palmer Road to St. Simon & St. Jude Church, Tignish where funeral mass was celebrated by Rev. Brendan Gallant assisted by Rev. Eddie Cormier. Rev. Gallant delivered the homily and had the prayers of final commendation and farewell. The first reading was read by son Clifford Martin. The second reading was read by Eileen DesRoches. The prayers of the faithful were read by daughter Sandra Martin. The church choir sang under the direction of cantor Vincent Doucette accompanied by organist Diane Handrahan. Processional hymn was “Amazing Grace”. Psalm was “The Lord Is My Shepherd”. Offertory hymn was “J’irai la voir un jour”. Communion Hymn was “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman”. Song of farewell was “Songs Of The Angels”. Recessional was “Jealous Of The Angels” a solo by grandson Adrienne Gallant. The pascal candle was lit by son Michael Martin. The pall was placed on the casket by daughter Angela McCallum and son Maurice Martin. The gifts were presented at the altar by daughters Carmen Halman and Bernadine DesRoches. The eucharistic ministers were nieces Emelda Pitre and Carmella Pitre. The altar servers were Charlie Bernard, Joseph DesRoches and Richard Shea. All who attended the funeral where considered Honorary Pallbearers. Active pallbearers were Victor Doucette, Stephen Perry, Elmer Perry, Peter McCallum, Kirk Gallant and Leroy Martin. Flowerbearers were Crystal DesRoches and Karen Tuplin. The family sang “You Are My Sunshine” at the grave side. Interment was in the church cemetery. Sunday evening Tignish and St. Felix CWL held prayers under the direction of Eileen Gaudet. Reading was read by Marion Bernard.
