Devastating famine

-

“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord.” (Amos 8:11)

Language – and words, the basic building blocks – play a fundamental role in human life and how we deal with every aspect of that life. God created us with the capacity to speak and even form our thoughts in connection with the miracle of language.

He then gave us His own words to direct our way to Him and to life.

He teaches us, warns us, and shepherds us to eternal life through words. “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” (I Peter 1:23) We have lived to see the worst of all conditions, a growing famine of the life-giving words of God.

This began in churches themselves. Part of the problem is disinterest on the part of the people as they neglect spiritual and eternal things, staying home from church for the pursuit of pleasure and leisure. Worse still, for those who go, the pulpits have left off heralding the Word of God and turned to entertainment and smoothing ruffled feathers. As a result, many people in this vacuum have adapted the value systems of humanism. Consequently, the churches and preachers have become irrelevant because their message is no different than that of the world at large.

The secular media, and even Hollywood, have taken their place in shaping society. Preachers used to boldly proclaim truth, and if somebody didn’t like it, they simply referred them to the ultimate source – the Word of God.

Why don’t people wonder who primes the big guns of political correctness for their endless barrage of antichristian ideas?

The social justice warriors even want fundamental modifications to our laws to secure their monopoly of social education. Free speech is now portrayed as an evil, except when exercised by certain privileged classes. Anything that doesn’t fit their narrative must be labelled “hate” and be censored or shut down to control those pesky words that have such an effect on people.

History shows that the first on the list are God’s own words. And so the heirs of Western liberty, peace, and wellbeing sentence themselves to the most devastating and far reaching of all famines – and commit collective spiritual suicide.
