Two major events happening Canada Day weekend
Sharp axes, powerful chainsaws, and professional athletes will be involved in the Timbersports championship coming to Charlottetown.
Charlottetown will come alive Canada Day weekend with thousands expected to make their way to the capital city for the 2017 ScotDance Canada Championship Series and the STIHL Timbersports Canadian Champions Trophy.
The ScotDance championship features the Canadian Highland Dancing Championships and the ScotDance Canada Open Championships. Events also include pre-premiere, premiere, and restricted premiere competitions, pre-championship, choreography, and special events.
The event will be held at the P.E.I. Convention Centre June
29 to July 3 and will welcome more than 950 highland dancers, as well as family, friends, and fans to Charlottetown.

Timbersports Trophy
Sharp axes, powerful chainsaws, and professional athletes will be involved in the STIHL Timbersports event.
The top professional axe-men in the country will head to Victoria Park on June 30 and July 1 as part of Charlottetown’s Canada 150 celebrations for an event that will have spectators at the edge of their seats. Two-time Canadian Champion Stirling Hart from Vancouver, B.C., will be competing for the title against the other qualifiers.
The Master’s Cup of the sport, this free event features the top eight athletes from the Canadian championship. Known as “the original extreme sport,” Timbersports athletes quickly and skillfully compete in disciplines, consisting of cutting wood in timed trials. The Champions Trophy features four out of six Timbersports disciplines in a backto-back relay format without taking a break.
Qualifying events will take place in the West Meadow at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 30, with the main event of the championship getting underway on July 1 at 6:30 p.m.
