Time to bust out the swimwear for the season because the floating, inflatable obstacle course destined for Summerside’s waterfront is expected to open next week.

Scott MacGregor, one of the owners of the obstacle course, said the sections were being loaded onto a truck in Montreal earlier this week and should arrive here any day. He expects their crew to take another two or three days to inflate and install the structure.

If all goes as planned they should be ready for the first customers on June 28 and a grand opening on Canada Day weekend.

It will be located next to Sharky’s Seafood. MacGregor partnered with Jason Wall and Steve Darrach, the co-owners of Off the Wallz trampoline park in Slemon Park, for this project. MacGregor said they hired 18 people, plus security, to work at the obstacle course. Those employees will also operate another initiative MacGregor and his partners are planning for Green’s Shore on the city’s west-end.

They will have two landbased inflatable games at the public green space for the duration of the tourist season. There will be a 50-foot-high slide and something called bossaball, which is volleyball but on an inflatable bed with a trampoline in the middle. “We thought it would be good for kids that are too small for the water park, so we thought we’d give them something to do down at Green’s Shore,” said MacGregor. Those two games will open shortly after the obstacle course is up and running.
