Let the Monday night ceilidhs begin

The Gary Chipman, Keelin Wedge & Friends Ceilidh season premiere on July 3 at the Stanley Bridge Women’s Institute historic hall will be alive with Maritime music, step-dancing, and traditiona­l fiddling, just like it will be all summer long. The ceilidhs will continue Monday nights at 7:30 p.m. at th hall. Host Chipman is thrilled to welcome friends and accomplish­ed musicians Keelin Wedge, Kevin Chaisson and Blair Coughlin to join him on stage to present this ceilidh.

“From eastern P.E.I. to western P.E.I., we have a great compliment of musicians set to showcase the best of P.E.I. music, fiddling and step-dancing,” says Chipman.

Wedge is a multi -instrument­alist and vocalist from West Prince who plays fiddle and guitar and has just released an album, “The Traditiona­l Files.” Chipman is an Island musician who started his career on the Don Messer Live Shows and touring with Anna McGoldrick and Stompin’ Tom Connors. Chaisson, a piano player from Bear River, is also a member of the Chaisson Trio and has deep roots in traditiona­l music on the Island.

Coughlin resides in Summerside and is a bass player and vocalist. Step-dancer will be Jordan Chowen of Mount Stewart. Ceilidh runs all summer at the WI hall at 4897 St. Mary’s Road in Stanley Bridge. Admission is at the door or online at www.peiceilidh­s.com. For informatio­n, call 902-3141865.
