Mont-Carmel Summer Concerts start Sunday

-

The Summer Concert Series is back for its 10th season at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall every Sunday night beginning July 2.

The Summer Concert Series is back for its 10th season at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall every Sunday night beginning July 2. The Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel (CDCPMC) will present nine Sunday concerts starting at 7 p.m.

The first show this Sunday will feature Annie and Julien Kitson, Patricia and Marcella Richard, Amy and Rachel Beck and Cookin’ Trio. Hosting the evening will be Paul Le Police incarnated by Raymond J. Arsenault. The Kitsons, a sister and brother duo from Charlottetown, are singers and multiinstrumentalists who recently appeared during the Festival of Small Halls.

Together on stage, the Richard sisters share their musical roots and their love of singing. Marcella has three French solo albums. Patricia was a member of numerous musical groups such as Panou, Acadilac, Ode à l’Acadie and most recently in Lennie Gallant’s show “Searching for Abegweit.”

Another sibling duo, the Becks began singing together around the family piano in Montague. They now share their pop-tinged folk with audiences across Canada. The Beck Sisters will be releasing their third album in February 2018.

The new group Cookin’ Trio, which features Melissa Gallant, Megan Bergeron and Rémi Arsenault, will also take the stage. Their energetic traditional music will warm up the dance

floor for local step-dancers.

The concert will start at 7 p.m. and the doors of the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall (5786 Route 11) open at 6:15 p.m. Guests will be able to buy 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for members of the co-operative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers.

The 2017 lineup can be found at www.cooperativeculturelledemontcarmel.com.
