New library hours

The Summerside Rotary Library has new permanent open hours. The library is now open Mondays 12 – 8 p.m., Tuesdays 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sundays 12 – 5 p.m.

As a quick reminder to our seasonal residents, the library is now located at 57 Central Street in the Inspire Learning Centre.

The TD Summer Reading Club is in full swing at the library. Children and teens of all ages are invited to register for the program and continue reading all summer long. Participants are also invited to attend the free weekly one hour drop in programs. Each week features a different program for each age level.

The theme of the program this year is Canada. Programs for children in kindergarten to grade 3 take place on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Programs for children in grades 4 to 6 take place on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Programs for preschoolers take place on Thursdays at 10 a.m. Teen programs are scheduled for Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. On Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. we will be holding all ages programs for the whole family.

The library is pleased to once again partner with the P.E.I. Literacy Alliance for the Ready, Set, Learn summer tutoring program.

Four tutors will be working with local students in the library to cultivate a love of learning by developing their literacy and numeracy skills, and building self-confidence.

The Friends of the Library will be holding a Sidewalk Book Sale on Thursday, July 13, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. All proceeds go to support library programs.
