Two memorial races held at SRW on Wednesday

Royaltywestho recorded the fastest mile in five Atlantic Sires Stakes’ events for two-year-old pacing fillies.
Walter Cheverie drove Royaltywestho to a maiden record of 1:58.3 in one of three $9,460 A divisions as Governor’s Plate Week of harness racing at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway continued on Wednesday night.
Trainer Joseph Baxter and Gregory Francis of Windsor, N.S., own Royaltywestho. Elm Grove Mistress (2:01 – a maiden record) and Res Shabla (2:00.1 – new race-win record) also won A events.
Mike McGuigan trains and drives R Es Shabla for owner Lloyd Parsons of Carmanville, N.L.
Trainer Earl Smith was in the bike of Elm Grove Mistress for owners Arnold Hagen of Nova Scotia and Peter Smith, Larry Chappell and Gerald Morrison of P.E.I.
Two $2,500 B events for the two-year-old fillies were won by Zero Stress Nora (2:03.1 – a maiden record) and Silverhill Misty (2:04.2).
Jason Hughes handles the training and driving of Silverhill Misty for owner Kurt Hughes of Stratford, and Brian MacPhee drove the Dan Lewis-trained Zero Stress Nora for the Zero Stress Stables of Blacketts Lake, N.S.
Memorial races
Keep Coming won The Freddy Mile in memory of Fred Bridges in a time of 1:56.4, and Heart and Soul hit the wire first in the
Allison (Hook) Walsh Memorial Pace.
Political Crisis registered the fastest mile of the 10-dash card while establishing a new racewin record 1:56.2 in Race 3. Driver Adam Merner co-owns
the nine-year-old bay gelding by Camluck-Rambaraness-Western Hanover with Max Roderick Sehl of Nova Scotia. Melissa Rennie handles the training. Other winners were: Drivin That Train (1:59.2 – a
maiden record) and Nikes Cowgirl (1:58.3 – a maiden record). Walter Cheverie picked up a pair of driving wins.
The total wager was $25,261. Live harness racing resumes in Summerside on Thursday at
7 p.m. The Atlantic Sires Stakes for two-year-old pacing colts will be featured.
