Islanders to represent P.E.I. in N.L.
Matt Power’s complete game led the Capital District Islanders to a 6-4 win over the Western Mariners in the final of the Baseball P.E.I. bantam AAA elimination tournament in Cardigan on Sunday. Hot bats and solid defence in the weekend event sparked the Islanders to a 4-0 (won-lost) record in the double-elimination tournament. Western would have had to beat Capital District twice in the playoffs to win the crown. The Islanders will represent P.E.I. at the Atlantic bantam AAA championship in Grand Falls-Windsor, N.L., in September.
