Upcoming performanc­es at Indian River Festival

Rosie & The Riveters, a trio who perform uplifting folk music with a vintage 1940s flair, will take the stage this Sunday at the Indian River Festival.

It’s gearing up to be a busy weekend at the Indian River Festival.

Don Ross and Calum Graham will be performing together on Friday, Aug. 11, at 7:30 p.m. Ross has toured regularly since 1989, across Canada, the USA, a dozen European counties, Japan, Taiwan, China, Australia, Russia and India.

He has played with symphony orchestras in Canada and Germany. He composes scores for television, radio and film, and does production and recording engineerin­g for a variety of other musicians. In addition to acoustic guitar, he also plays electric guitar, slide dobro and lapsteel guitar, voice, piano, keyboards, bass guitar and drums.

Born in Montreal, he now lives in Halifax. Graham was the first-place winner of the Canadian Guitar Festival in 2010 at the age of 18, and has been named as one of the top 30 guitarists under the age of 30 by Acoustic Guitar Magazine. He has been described as a “fingerstyl­e wizard.”

Rosie & The Riveters will take the stage on Sunday, Aug. 13, at 7:30 p.m.

Their original songs feature sophistica­ted harmonies, body percussion, “scintillat­ing” dance moves and humour. Would you rather be on stage than in front of it?

The Indian River Festival is holding on open mic night on Aug. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. The public is invited to bring their instrument­s and show what they’re made of.
