Weekly Prince County RCMP report
The following is a list of noteworthy incidents and investigations undertaken by Prince District RCMP between July 31 and Aug. 6:
Assault alleged
On July 31, 2017, at approximately 4 p.m., police received a report of an alleged assault that took place at a residence in Fernwood. The matter is currently
under investigation.
Refusing to pay toll
On July 31, 2017, at approximately 4 p.m., RCMP attended the toll booth at the Confederation Bridge, to investigate a complaint of a driver refusing to pay the toll. Upon police speaking with the driver, he agreed to pay and continued across the Confederation Bridge.
Panel stolen
Sometime between the evening Monday, July 31, and Thursday, Aug. 3, a solar panel was stolen from a camper in the Brae. The matter is still under investigation.
Graffiti painted
On Aug. 1, 2017, West Prince RCMP were made aware of graffiti spray-painted in black on a potato warehouse in O’Leary. The matter is still under investigation.
Watercraft returns safely
On Aug. 2, 2017, at approximately 11 a.m., police were notified of a watercraft off-shore near Miminegash, in which the driver had been identified as having trouble returning to shore. With the assistance of the Coast Guard, the driver of the watercraft was able to make it safely back to port and was not injured.
Liquor stolen
On Aug. 4, 2017, at approximately 7 p.m., a male and female entered the Big Dog Convenience store in Kinkora, which contains a P.E.I. Liquor outlet. Surveillance video shows a male wearing a black tank top with tattoos on his arms and a female wearing red shorts and white tank top in the liquor section. The female proceeds to place a few bottles of liquor in her shorts and walks out of the store. The pair left in a Ford truck. The matter is still under investigation.
Charges laid
Two males have been charged with assault with a weapon following an investigation in Crapaud, after one female reported receiving injuries on Aug. 5, 2017, at approximately 2 a.m. Court is scheduled for late September.
Accidental drive off
On Aug. 5 at approximately 4 p.m., the occupant of a white Lexus left the Irving gas station in Alberton without paying for gas. The employee believes this was as a result of a miscommunication between the driver and passenger. A message was left with the registered owner of the vehicle.
Truck hits poll
On Aug. 5, 2017, at approximately 7 p.m., East Prince RCMP responded to a call of a truck hitting a metal pole in BordenCarleton. The male driver was intoxicated and was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
Kayakers return safe
Late in the evening on Aug. 5, 2017, at approximately 8 p.m., police assisted with the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre with locating two kayakers who never returned home. The two kayakers were later located safe, camping onshore.
Rowdy festival crowds
Shortly after midnight on Aug. 5, 2017, police were called to Tyne Valley, upon receiving a complaint of a rowdy crowd following the Oyster Festival event. Upon police attendance, all people dispersed without incident.
