Island athletes win 57 medals at New Brunswick Provincial Games

Island athletes brought home 57 medals from the New Brunswick Provincial Special Olympic Games.

Special Olympics P.E.I. was well represente­d at the New Brunswick Provincial Special Olympics Games recently.

A total of 57 athletes wore the P.E.I. colours in six different sports – softball, soccer, athletics, bocce, powerlifti­ng and swimming.

Overall, Team P.E.I. members combined to win 57 medals in Moncton, N.B.

Following are Team P.E.I.’s results:

Softball

Team P.E.I. went 0-2 (wonlost) and placed third.

Soccer

Team P.E.I. finished with a record of 0-2. They also finished in third place.

Athletics Teri Cudmore (Charlottet­own)

Third in 100 metres. Third in 200 metres. Second in standing long jump.

Second in shot put.

Jeremy Wall (Kensington)

First in 5,000 metres. First in 3,000 metres. First in 800 metres. Second in running long jump. Second in shot put.

Christophe­r Arsenault (Summerside)

Second in 3,000 metres. First in 1,500 metres. First in 800 metres. First in 400 metres. First in running long jump.

Jordan Koughan (Fort Augustus)

Seventh in 100 metres. Sixth in 200 metres. Second in standing long jump.

Fourth in shot put.

Charles Beaulieu

(Summerside)

Third in 100 metres. Fourth in 200 metres. Second in standing long jump.

Third in shot put.
