Mont-Carmel welcomes Les Paloudes, Max Keenlyside and Meaghan Blanchard
Les Paloudes, Max Keenlyside, Meaghan Blanchard, Kenny Chaisson and Darla MacPhee, along with step-dancer Sara Arsenault will be on the Mont-Carmel stage this weekend.
The Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series is in full swing with shows continuing every Sunday evening until Aug. 27.
The artists taking the stage on Sunday, Aug. 13, include Les Paloudes, Max Keenlyside, Meaghan Blanchard as well as Kenny Chaisson and Darla MacPhee. Sara Arsenault will also make a step-dancing appearance.
The concert will mark Acadian Day, which is officially celebrated on Aug. 15.
Three Evangeline youth, Dawson Arsenault, Tianna Gallant and Gilbert Arsenault, comprise Les Paloudes. During the last two years, this group has performed on numerous Island stages. They were awarded the silver medal during La Voix des groups competition at the Acadian Games in both 2016 and 2017, as well as first prize in the teenagers’ division during the Acazing Talent Competition in 2016.
Lauded for his skills as a ragtime and traditional jazz pianist, Keenlyside has headlined festivals across North America. His debut album, “KeenlyStride,” was met with critical acclaim and his latest release, “Mostly Max,” puts an emphasis on his own piano compositions. ECMA-winning songwriter, Blanchard, is an acclaimed performer, storyteller and musician, who pairs her selfpenned songs with a crystal voice an ability to tell stories through character-driven songs.
Chaisson a founding member of the P.E.I. Fiddlers’ Association, Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival and Rollo Bay Fiddle lesson, has worked to promote a strong interest in Cape Breton playing styles. He will be taking the stage with his daughter at Sunday’s show.
The concert will start at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6:15 p.m. at the Mont-Carmel Parish Hall, 5786 Route 11. Fifty-fifty tickets and a canteen will be available.
Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for members of the cooperative, $5 for students and free for preschoolers.
