It was mission accomplished for the Summerside Team One Chevys.

The Chevys needed to win their last two games of the regular season in order to finish first in the P.E.I. Midget Baseball League regular season for the third year in a row. The Chevys did just that, recently defeating Summerside Team Two 4-0 and the Charlottetown Royals 9-6 at Queen Elizabeth Park’s Legends Field.

“It was an excellent season by all members of this team,” said Team One Chevys head coach Sam Cameron. “It took a team effort, and we succeeded. “Everyone came together as a team, and that’s all you can ask for as a coach.

Such a great feeling finishing at the top of the league, and it certainly gives us that extra boost of confidence going into provincials.

“Our goal at the end of the day is to win the provincial title, and (represent) P.E.I. at this year’s Atlantics hosted in Stratford, P.E.I.”

Overall, the Chevys compiled a regular-season record of 10-4 (won-lost) while scoring 108 runs and allowing a league-low 51.
