This week’s Stanley Bridge Ceilidh is season finale

-

A reunion of old friends who were brought together to present weekly summer ceilidhs will finish for the season on Wednesday at the Stanley Bridge Women’s Institute Hall. Having been friends since their high school days at Birchwood High in Charlottetown, musicians Dino Dunsford, Allan “Postie” Connolly and Gary Chipman with friend and fellow musician Blair Coughlin have been entertaining great crowds at the Stanley Bridge WI Hall all summer.

The ceilidh features a wide variety of music including maritime, country and some rock and roll tunes. There will be also fiddling by Chipman, stepdancing and lots of laughs.

Joining them for their last ceilidh of the season will be seasoned step-dancer and Marshfield resident, Taylor MacBeath. “We had many laughs this summer and real fun performing together as a group,” says Chipman. “It’s very nostalgic to think about the fact that our group started to play music together as teenagers and we’re still doing the same thing many years later, with a little bit more grey hair and in some cases a little less hair.”

The Stanley Bridge WI Hall supports many Island charities including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and others. The Aug. 30 ceilidh starts at 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 7 p.m. The hall is air-conditioned. Strawberries and ice cream will be available for sale at intermission.
