P.E.I. first stop on tour
Ian Sherwood sets off on tour promoting release of new album
Promoting the release of his fifth studio album, “Bring The Light” (available Sept. 15), Halifax-based, singer-songwriter, Ian Sherwood is setting out on a fall tour through the Maritimes and Ontario.
The first stop on that tour is at the Trailside Music Café in Mount Stewart on Sept. 8. Featuring Sherwood’s new single, “Firefly”, “Bring The Light” is produced by multiaward-winning producer Daniel Ledwell.
The album is filled with the same hooky cleverness that has always endeared Sherwood to his audiences.
Guitar, saxophone, prolific songwriting and a voice that won him a 2013 Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Singer of the Year, Sherwood brings the light to every stage he stands on. A born storyteller and a constant creator, his music dances the line between folk and pop.
His live performances thrive on intimacy, whether it’s a theatre show or large festival stage.
He was named 2012 Best Male Artist of the Year by the International Acoustic Music Awards and was honoured with Music Nova Scotia’s Musician of the Year Award in 2008 and 2010.
When not touring the United Kingdom, the U.S. and Canada, Sherwood produces for other artists and for theatre, film and
television. He most recently won a 2017 Robert Merritt Award for Outstanding Original Score for the play “Tompkinsville” by Lindsay Kyte. Sherwood recently completed the music score for two films that will be featured as part of FIN: Atlantic International Film Festival (Sept. 14-21) in Halifax, including “Pearls”, written and directed by Shelley Thompson, and “You Ruined Our Life”, written and directed by Iain McLeod.
