‘O Canada’ singer
Gallant, Blanchard get the call
Cory Gallant will sing the anthem for NHL game.
Woodstock’s Cory Gallant was recently seen lining up to get in on the draw for Kraft Hockeyville tickets, but he won’t be needing any for himself. The O’Leary Kraft Hockeyville Committee announced Friday that Gallant has been chosen as one of the anthem singers for the Kraft Hockeyville game Sept. 25 in Summerside.
“Hey Everybody, super pumped to be able to officially announce that I have been chosen to sing the Canadian National Anthem at the Credit Union Place for the Ottawa Senators vs The New Jersey Devils on Monday, Sept 25, which will be televised nationwide,” Gallant shared on Facebook Friday. Also chosen as an anthem singer for the preseason exhibition game is East Coast Music Awards winner Meghan Blanchard. Blanchard is from the Hunter River area but now lives in the O’Leary area, recently married to Woodstock native Thomas Webb.
“I have completely fallen in love with this community,” Blanchard declared. “It really means a lot to be part of this; it makes me feel part of this beautiful vibrant community. She has toured Canada, the US and UK and is currently working on her fourth studio album.
Sportsnet will be broadcasting the game live from Credit Union Place.
Gallant, who played his minor hockey in Hockeyville 2017, was a featured entertainer during O’Leary’s Hockeyville announcement party on April 1 and the subsequent celebration party. He has played at the Calgary Stampede and toured Canada, the US and Japan as a Tim McGraw impersonator. He’s currently writing material for a new recording to be produced next year.
Gallant will be a featured entertainer during an outdoor festival on Sept. 24, part of Kraft Hockeyville Winning Weekend celebration.
