Trio of talent at St. Luke’s Kitchen party

Special guests include country music’s Kurk Bernard, Sandra Jones and Harold MacIntyre

-

Kurk Bernard, Sandra Jones and Harold MacIntyre will be the special guests at St. Luke’s Kitchen Party this Wednesday at St. Luke’s Hall, O’Leary Corner.

Years of singing around the kitchen table with his dad, Ivan, and Uncle Lionel, enabled Bernard to develop his unique singing style and love for entertaining. In addition to his vocals and fronting skills is his bass playing, which earned him a nomination for a Canadian Country Music Award for Bass Player of the Year.

Bernard recently released a solo recording entitled, “Love’s Gonna Live Here.” His East Coast charisma often has audiences in stitches.

Often referred to as “Canada’s George Jones,” country traditionalist Harold MacIntyre compares well to the country legend with early career hit songs like “Possum” and “George.” MacIntyre toured across Canada during the late 1970s and through the ‘80s heading

up to his band, Area Code 705. During his heydays, he opened major concert events headlined by the likes of George Jones, Freddy Fender, and Gene Watson.

MacIntyre recorded solo albums charting numerous hit singles on Canadian charts including his signature song “Before She Made Me Crawl.” He was named Top Male Vocalist in the 1984 Country Music New Fan Awards.

During the 1990s his career was stymied by throat problems forcing him to put his music career on hold. In recent years, he has made a limited comeback, performing as well as recording a duet album with Johnny Burke. A resident of Bloomfield, Jones is a regular entertainer at concerts, benefits and shows in various venues across P.E.I. The St. Luke’s Sept. 13 show starts at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30. Lunch is included with admission. St. Luke’s Hall offers comfortable seating and wheelchair accessibility.
