Con­cert hon­ours ladies of coun­try mu­sic

This Sun­day the Prince­town United Church presents a trib­ute show, “Lady Singers of Our Cen­tury” (Tanya Tucker, Rita MacNeil, Loretta Lynn, Emmy Lou Har­ris, Patsy Cline and Lynda Rond­stad).

Hosts Judy McGre­gor and Joan Reeves will be joined by Jolee Patkai, Keila Gly­don and Colleen MacPhee to per­form the songs of these coun­try mu­sic artists.

Singer/song­writer Patkai has re­leased two CDs “Go­ing Home” and “Shore Rhap­sody.” A mem­ber of the group, “Tre­ble With Girls,” she will be pay­ing trib­ute to Loretta Lynn and Em­my­Lou Har­ris.

Gly­don, who per­forms with Dino and the Har­monies and Phase 11, has writ­ten many songs, many of which can be found on her lat­est gospel CD, “Here I am Lord.” She will be pay­ing trib­ute to Patsy Cline and Linda Rond­stad. MacPhee, orig­i­nally from Ge­orge­town, has been singing and play­ing gui­tar since the age of 12.

She has two record­ings to her credit. She will be pay­ing trib­ute to Rita MacNeil, one of her favourite fe­male artists. McGre­gor and Reeves, also known as comic duo, Ding and Dong, have been singing to­gether for many years, pro­duc­ing a har­mony that only sib­lings can. They will be adding lots of hu­mour and sto­ries as they pay trib­ute to Tanya Tucker and the MacGuire Sis­ters.

The per­form­ers note that their au­di­ence mem­bers are of­ten singing along to ev­ery song and the mu­sic is fa­mil­iar to them and brings back great mem­o­ries. The Sept. 17 show starts at 7:30 p.m.

This con­cert is a fundraiser in sup­port of the Prince­town church, lo­cated on Route 20 in Malpeque.

There will be a sale of ice cream topped with straw­ber­ries at in­ter­mis­sion.

Tick­ets are $12 at the door, which opens at 6:30 p.m.
