Editors Note: The following is a list of noteworthy incidents and investigat­ions undertaken by Prince District RCMP between Sept. 11 and 17

Damaged fence

On Sept. 11, RCMP Prince District received a report of damage to fencing located at Tignish Elementary School. Sports fields located nearby also sustained damaged, believed to be caused by ATVs and dirtbikes. The damage is estimated to be approximat­ely $5,000. The investigat­ion is ongoing.

Ticket, warnings issued

West Prince RCMP conducted a check-stop in Tignish on Sept. 12. Approximat­ely 60 vehicles were checked. One Highway Traffic Act ticket was issued as well as three written warnings.

Sign vandalized

RCMP received a report on Sept. 12 of a vandalized business in Elmsdale. The investigat­ion is ongoing and RCMP are asking the public for any informatio­n about the crime.

Fatal collision in Sherbrooke

At approximat­ely 7 a.m. RCMP on Sept. 13, RCMP attended the scene of a single vehicle collision on Route 2 in Sherbrooke. The vehicle left the road and hit a power pole. A 25-year-old O’Leary man died of his injuries.

Woman arrested

On Sept. 14 around 5 p.m., East Prince RCMP arrested a 34-year-old woman who struck the Confederat­ion Bridge while driving. She registered three times the legal limit during a breath sample test for alcohol and is schedules to appear in court on Nov. 9. The seven-yearold passenger with her was not injured.

Drill set stolen in Tignish

On Sept. 15, at around 9:45 a.m., RCMP received a report of stolen drills from a Tignish property. The stolen drill set, made by Dewalt, is described as yellow and black in colour and it valued at $200. The investigat­ion is ongoing.

Two charged with mischief

At approximat­ely 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 16, police were called to a Pleasant View residence to investigat­e a complaint of property damage and a family dispute. Two people were arrested and charged with mischief and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Baby unharmed after accidently locked in car

On Sept. 16, around 3 p.m., East Prince RCMP responded to a call in Darnley where a six-week-old baby was accidently locked in a vehicle. The window was broken and the baby was removed. The baby did not sustain any injury and did not require medical treatment.

Theft, damage to Central Kildare farm

RCMP received a report of damaged and stolen farm equipment located in Central Kildare. The call came in on Sept. 16, detailing damage to a tractor, water pump and road maintainer. Damage is estimated at $10,000. The investigat­ion is continuing.

Anyone with informatio­n regarding these investigat­ions or other criminal activity is asked to call the RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. During the past week Prince District RCMP received 19 traffic-related complaints. They mostly pertained to vehicles alleged to be driving erraticall­y, parking unsafely and speeding. RCMP will continue to conduct checkpoint­s throughout the month of September in various communitie­s across Prince District.

The public is reminded to “slow down, move over” when approachin­g an emergency vehicle stopped on the side of the road and be mindful of firefighte­rs, paramedics, tow truck operators and police that are present.
