D Gs Camme delivers in CDP feature

D Gs Camme is back.

The former dominate force on the East Coast Invitation­al circuit mowed down his foes in the $2,400 Saturday night feature at Red Shores at the Charlottet­own Driving Park.

Gilles Barrieau sat behind the two-time Governor’s Plate champion as he laid on the rail the majority of the mile before using the passing the lane to defeat pacesetter Carracci Hanover and driver Jason Hughes in 1:54.2.

It was just the fifth start of the season for D Gs Camme as he scored his first win of the 2017 season for the training double for Jackie Matheson, who does the training for owners Ron Matheson, Tom Clark and Quentin and Hal Bevan of Charlottet­own. The Saturday night feature saw Carracci Hanover finish second with Likely To Win (Adam Merner) completing the $563.75 triactor. The $2,250 Open Mares pace had a mile upset as Good Luck Kathy hit the wire first at 6-1 odds for to double up driver Hughes who engineered the winning journey for conditione­r Jennifer Trainor and owner Danny Birt of Stratford. Race favorite Shadows Mystery (Kenny Arsenault) was second with Pretty n dangerous (Merner) third. Corey MacPherson had two driving wins on the program winning with Jetta Flys in 1:56.3 for trainer Stephen Quinn of Stratford and Simon Said in 1:57.3 for Joey Squires of Charlottet­own. Gary Chappell also had two driving trips to the winner’s circle with Tobins Terror in 2:00.1 from his own stable and with Dilans Mustang after a narrow 1:58.1 victory for trainer Robert Phillips of Pinette.
