Snapshots of Tuesday’s MHL Showcase games:

St. Stephen Aces 2 Amherst Ramblers 0

SUMMERSIDE – Jack Grant turned aside all 24 shots he faced in backstoppi­ng the St. Stephen Aces on Tuesday afternoon.

The Aces, who received first-period goals from Tristan Bowlby (1:44) and Patrick Daley (10:17), shut out the Amherst Ramblers 2-0. The game was played at Eastlink Arena.

Joel Goguen stopped all seven shots he faced in 24:23 of action for the Ramblers, and Julian Galloway was beaten twice on 15 shots in 24:36. The game’s three stars were: 1. Jack Grant (Aces), 2. Patrick Daley (Aces), 3. Lucas Sangster (Ramblers).

The Aces improved to 4-60-0 (won-lost-overtime lossesshoo­tout losses). Amherst dropped to 4-2-1-1.

Pictou County Crushers 2 Edmundston Blizzard 0

SUMMERSIDE – The last of the undefeated teams in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) fell early Tuesday evening.

The Pictou County Crushers handed the Edmundston Blizzard their first loss of the 2017-18 regular season at Eastlink Arena. The final score was 2-0.

Luke Melanson recorded a 14-save shutout, and Jacob Hickey’s goal 3:44 into the second 25-minute period broke a scoreless tie and proved to be the winner. Evan MacLennan added an insurance marker at 19:21. Greg Moon faced 20 shots in the Edmundston net.

The Crushers upped their record to 4-3-1-0. Edmundston is 7-1-0-0.

Woodstock Slammers 5 Valley Wildcats 2

SUMMERSIDE – Samuel Cameron had a goal and two assists to lead the Woodstock Slammers to a 5-2 victory over the Valley Wildcats on Tuesday afternoon.

Conor MacLean netted a brace while single goals came off the sticks of Brendan Bornstein and Kyle Foreman to help the Slammers improve to 3-3-2-0.

Makail Parker and Tarek Paranica countered for the Wildcats (1-6-0-1). The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period. Slammers goaltender Andrew Rose stopped 25 of 27 shots. For the Wildcats, Cale McLaren gave up four goals on 24 shots, and Jacob Stewart stopped nine of 10 tests. The game’s three stars were: 1. Samuel Cameron (Slammers), 2. Conor MacLean (Slammers), 3. Riley Bechard (Slammers).

South Shore Lumberjack­s 3 Campbellto­n Tigers 1

SUMMERSIDE – The South Shore Lumberjack­s struck early in the second period. Aidan Casey scored nine seconds into the final 25-minute period, and Samuel Cyr-Ledoux added an insurance marker at 3:26 to give the Lumberjack­s a 3-1 win over the Campbellto­n Tigers at Credit Union Place’s Ice Pad on Tuesday evening.

The Tigers’ Jonathan Coffey and South Shore’s Logan O’Neill exchanged first-period goals.

Overall, the Tigers outshot the Lumberjack­s 37-35 as South Shore held a slim 23-22 advantage in the second period.

Winning goaltender was MacKenzie Janes, and Tristan Gray was between the pipes for Campbellto­n.

The game’s three stars were: 1. MacKenzie Janes (Lumberjack­s), 2. Tristan Gray (Tigers), 3. Aidan Casey (Lumberjack­s).

South Shore is now 5-3-0-0 (won-lost-overtime lossesshoo­tout losses). The Tigers fell to 2-5-1-0.
