Young performers ready for Red Nose

Talent Show set for Oct. 14 at Florence Simmons Performance Hall

-

Holland College’s Florence Simmons Performance Hall will be a hub of activity on Oct. 14, as 13 youth acts showcase their talents for a chance to win a $1,000 cash prize in the Red

Nose Talent

Show.

The show is a new winnertake-all event with proceeds going to the Canadian Mental Health Association –

P.E.I. Division (CMHA-PEI).

Guided by

Emcee Al Douglas, local celebrity judges Catherine McLellan, Kinley Dowling and Zack Bell will have the difficult task of crowning one winner at the end of the night.

The event’s producer, Kate Flanagan says the idea to host this fundraiser was inspired

by a dear friend who recently passed away.

“This event is organized in memory of Lisa Carragher. Lisa was an educator who often used a red clown nose to incorporate humour into her lessons with my son Jack,” said Flanagan.

“She loved children and music, so it seemed fitting to

create an event in her memory that encompassed both and incorporated a fundraising component for a cause near and dear to her heart

– mental health.”

In addition to revenue generated from ticket sales, the 7 p.m. event will host a 50/50 raffle, an online silent auction, and red noses will be available

for purchase. CMHA staff will be on hand to take donations and issue tax receipts.

The event is already over half sold out, so go to www.rednosetalent.ca or call 902-566-3034 to purchase tickets.
