Guys, girls, ghosts and ghouls are invited to head to the County Fair Mall in Summerside on Oct. 31 for the annual trick or treat event.

For the third year, stores in the mall will participate in the event handing out treats and possibly other prizes. “We’re encouraging the community to come dressed in costume and visit the stores. Last year there were around 300 kids. It’s a fun event for all ages,” said Jaclyn Johnston, the marketing manager for Strathallen, the company that owns County Fair Mall.

Strathallen has run the event in the Truro mall, with numbers growing each year.

“It’s been a big success here (Truro). It’s gotten to the point where we couldn’t even consider not holding the event. This year the Summerside mall has added a costume contest to the event.

“People can enter by taking a selfie in the onsite photo booth and hashtag #CountyFairMallHalloween. The a group of us will decide the winner, which will be announced a few days after the event.”

Johnston added, “I’m really looking forward to the event. It will provide a safe environment for kids of all ages, which is really important to have for celebrated days like Halloween. Parents can bring their children to a space and won’t have to worry about walking in the roads or cars. Everything will be inside with lots of fun activities.”

Masks will not be permitted. The event runs from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
