- BY MEGAN BUTLER

Student Opportunities

Jillian Bulger will be hosting math tutoring for students grades 1 to 12 with the Jump Math Program. Students are divided into groups of up to four individuals, and are grouped based on age, grade, and comprehension. All tutors are qualified teachers, with a minimum Bachelor of Education. This will be an eight-week program and will begin Oct. 23, with hour-long sessions once weekly. The tutor will share progress with the parent and determine whether it is beneficial to continue the sessions. Group tutoring is $10 per student, and individual sessions are $25 per student. The sessions will be held at Hernewood Intermediate School and Westisle Composite High School. Payment is accepted via cheque or email transfer, and parents may claim tax credits on these payments. Contact info@ldapei.ca with any further questions.

General News

A meeting of the Parent Council will be held on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. All parents and guardians are encouraged to attend.

The cafeteria at Westisle is now serving gluten-free options. Students can now purchase wraps, sub buns, and pasta. To prevent any cross-contamination, students who are interested in these options are asked to pre-order their lunch in the morning.

Lifetouch will be back at Westisle for retakes for those students who were absent on picture day or were unhappy with their results. The scheduled date for retakes will be Friday, Oct. 27.

Westisle’s online clothing shop is available at http://westislecompositehighschool.entripyshops.com for anyone interested in purchasing Westisle merchandise. There are plenty of sizes, styles, and prices to choose from, with customizable graphics, logos, and embroidery. These make a great Christmas gift.
